In the past, Heatwave had been distributing its shoes to several countries via informal arrangements. There was a need to formalise the franchise framework for more effective and consistent duplication overseas. Our consultants helped to systemise Heatwave’s business model and this resulted in a quick penetration mode that gave Heatwave a first-mover advantage in many developing economies. Today, Heatwave has penetrated seven countries successfully, namely Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Taiwan, Bangladesh and Philippines. In addition, they have formalized the agreements with its overseas partners, thus defining the brand more distinctively in the region.
